3MBS Melbourne has announced that its Made in Melbourne program, launched for the first time this year, will return in 2024. Three festivals make a return in the new year, including its newly structured Marathon, alongside some brand new offerings.

The season launches with the beloved 2024 Marathon on 24 February, now in its 12th year. Centred on the theme of Transfigured, five concerts will span across the length of a single day at Melbourne Recital Centre. It is violinist Wilma Smith’s second year as Artistic Director; in January, she told Limelight that the role was too sweet to refuse.

“A one-day festival, wide open to artist and repertoire freedom – the challenge proved to be irresistible.”

Hosted by Brunswick’s Tempo Rubato, Music, She Wrote takes place 20–22 March. Established in 2021, the three-day festival is directed by violist Katie Yap and platforms the voices of female composers across classical, jazz and folk music.
