Hosted by Oscar winner and Tony nominee Ariana DeBose, the 76th annual Tony Awards were dispensed on Sunday night in a ceremony without a script and with blank teleprompters – a concession to the striking Writers Guild of America, which agreed not to picket the United Palace Theater in New York City if those conditions observed.

Kimberly Akimbo won best musical in a field that included & Juliet and Some Like It Hot. Tom Stoppard’s period drama Leopoldstadt was named best play.

Best Revival of a Play was awarded to August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson. Parade won best revival of a musical over Camelot, Into the Woods and Sweeney Todd.

Jodie Comer won Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Play in a play for her solo performance of Australian playwright Suzie Miller’s Olivier Award-winning drama Prima Facie.
