A Christmas Carol leads the pack with eight nominations at this year’s Matilda Awards, which recognise and celebrate achievements in theatre in Queensland. shake and stir’s adaptation of the beloved Charles Dickens story has been nominated for Best Mainstage Production, while two of its stars have received nods. Eugene Gilfedder has been nominated for Best Male Actor in a Leading Role as Ebeneezer Scrooge, while Bryan Probets has been nominated for Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role for playing the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future as well as Marley’s ghost. A Christmas Carol has also picked up nods for Best Video Design (Craig Wilkinson), Best Lighting Design (Jason Glenwright), Best Sound Design/Composition (Chris Perren and Salliana Campbell), Best Costume Design (Josh McIntosh) and Best Set Design (McIntosh).
