The 10-day Melbourne season of the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) Quarttethaus has been announced today, spanning 3–14 May.

The season features a host of high-profile partnerships between ANAM, the Australian events design company bluebottle, London’s Royal College of Music, the Australian String Quartet, the Marmen Quartet and Museum Victoria. Three Australian and three British quartets will participate in a program of 56 performances, which includes two new works written especially for the event by Sydney composer Jack Symonds and the UK-based Hannah Kendall.

The season was originally scheduled to take place at the Royal Albert Hall, London as a part of the UK/Australian season last September but the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and ongoing issues with international freight logistics (an “unsolvable situation,” noted ANAM Artistic Director Paavali Jumppanen) has resulted in the events being rescheduled and staged at the Melbourne Museum Plaza.
