The Biennale of Sydney has appointed internationally acclaimed Singaporean curator Low Kee Hong as Artistic Director of its 26th edition, opening in March 2028. Currently Creative Director of Factory International in Manchester, Low is expected to bring a multidisciplinary approach to the event, combining contemporary visual art with music, architecture, performance, literature, philosophy, food, fashion and nature.

At Factory International, Low oversees the curatorial program at Aviva Studios and directs the biennial Manchester International Festival. He recently curated Ai Weiwei: Button Up!, the Chinese artist’s largest site-specific exhibition to date, and collaborated with Ai Weiwei on the 24-hour performance Sewing a Button. His previous roles include founding Director and General Manager of the Singapore Biennale, Artistic Director of the Singapore Arts Festival and Head of Theatre and Performing Arts at Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.
