Anthony Warlow, one of Australia’s leading musical theatre performers, is to play The Wizard and Professor Marvel in The Wizard of Oz. As announced by producers John Frost and Suzanne Jones, Warlow will star in the much-loved musical when Andrew Lloyd Webber’s London Palladium production comes to Australia at the end of the year. The show will open in Brisbane in November, then travel to Sydney in December.

This new stage adaptation of Frank Baum’s book and the iconic 1939 movie includes all the beloved songs from the Academy Award-winning score including Over The Rainbow, We’re Off To See The Wizard and Follow The Yellow Brick Road, as well as some additional songs by Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice among them a new opening number for Dorothy and a number for the Wicked Witch called Red Shoes Blues.

Warlow has been charming audiences since his made his debut in 1981 at age 19 in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the Australian Opera.
