SeasonPreview: Your guide to the arts in 2025

The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra has announced its 2025 season.

Marking its 35th anniversary year with six programs, the Brandenburg offers an eclectic year that includes returning collaborators, beloved staples and a brand new commission. This year’s programming is centred on the theme of ‘Life’ – a notion “both vast and intimately personal”, said co-founder and Managing Director Bruce Applebaum.

“In this quickly changing world, we offer moments of reflection as we delve into life’s profound questions, as always in the Brandenburg’s uniquely bold and energised style.”

The Brandenburg hits the ground running from 13–22 February in Melbourne and Sydney with the return of Venezuelan soprano Samuel Mariño, who debuted with the orchestra in 2022 to rave reviews. “A new star is born,” wrote Limelight’s Steven Moffatt in a five-star review. “Grab the opportunity to see and hear him if you can.”

Mariño will perform a selection of Handel arias...
