Keen for revival after the devastating effects of COVID-19, a small subset of the Canberra Bach Ensemble and a keen supporter of the group have banded together to organise a fundraising concert on Wednesday 19 April to relaunch its concert programme ahead of BachFest in 2024.

The Canberra Bach Ensemble (CBE) was established in 1999 by ACT conductor and musicologist Andrew Koll, a year prior to the 250th anniversary of Bach’s death. It was at the forefront of celebrations and presented several concert performances of Bach’s Cantatas and other works – many of which were performed for the first time in Canberra.

The project of performances was significant in the musical landscape of Canberra, inspiring many of the Ensemble’s musicians to embark on successful music careers interstate and abroad. Its effect and influence on music in Canberra cannot be overestimated.
