Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2024

The Sydney-based Bach Akademie Australia has announced its 2024 season, another voyage into the works and the creative mind of J.S. Bach.

Established in 2016 when founder Madeleine Easton returned to Australia after two decades playing in Europe, the ensemble’s focus was then as it is now: the mastery of performance, originality of interpretation and a devotion to authenticity. “The idea of a period instrument ensemble dedicated to Bach was perfect,” wrote Easton in Limelight in 2019. “I would control my own musical destiny and perform these wonderful works in exactly the way I felt them.”

Since its first public concert in 2017, Bach Akademie Australia has been rewarded with a burgeoning audience and glowing reviews (many of them in Limelight), and it continues to consolidate its reputation as one of Australia’s outstanding period instrument ensembles.
