SeasonPreview: Your guide to the arts in 2025

Sydney’s artist-run art new music platform Backstage Music has unveiled its 2025 program.

In its new season, it builds “a living space for living music” – offering inventive concert experiences outside of the concert hall with Australian community and creativity at its heart.

“For us, Backstage is about creating a living, breathing space for Australian music, where artists are empowered, risks are celebrated, and we all get to experience something new!” said Artistic Director Lamorna Nightingale. “The magic of a Backstage gig is that it’s a party, but one where you walk away buzzing with new ideas and musical sounds.”

The party starts with Mirage on 29 June, featuring pianist Jack Symonds, soprano Jane Sheldon and cellist Blair Harris. The trio will perform original works by both Symonds and Sheldon, alongside music from Saariaho, Faure2 and Dusapin.
