Sydney’s Carriageworks has announced it will host a series of major new dance works across its winter season.

Complemented by workshops and discussions, the cultural precinct will host performances by Force Majeure, NAISDA and Marrugeku from 9 June – 26 August.

“NAISDA and Force Majeure are at the forefront of contemporary movement and storytelling in Australia, and we feel privileged to be able to support the current and next generation of leading arts practitioners in their presentation of never-before-seen works,” said acting Carriageworks CEO Jonty Claypole.

Opening the season on 9 June is Move, a dance work that forms an improvised response to the surrounding architecture of the performance space. Hosted by the Carriageworks Nights season, the performance is led by curator Azzam Mohamed, who has engaged five Riddim Nation dancers to be scored by live DJs.

Over 21–22 July, First Nations training college NAISDA will present ATI: A Dance Reckoning of Truth, Place and Belonging as led by its Head of Dance, Deon Hastie. Centred...
