Darwin Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2025 season, one set to be the orchestra’s biggest yet.
2025 is is a game-changer for DSO: in May, the orchestra announced that it was to receive an additional $1 million in funding from the Federal Government over a four-year span, doubling its existing funding. This means that, for its 2025 season, DSO is able to pay its principal players for the first time in its 35-year history. It will also use the funding to expand its touring and musical education programs.
2025 also marks the final year of its Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, Jonathan Tooby, who has held the role for seven years. “2025 will be an exciting year full of new opportunities and change for our wonderful orchestra, a year that excites me tremendously even if mixed with some sadness, being my final season as DSO Artistic Director and Chief Conductor with this fabulous and talented orchestra,” said Tooby.
