The prize-winning Austrian pianist is set to release a Chopin recital in April.

Deutsche Grammophon has signed pianist Ingolf Wunder to its roster of artists.

The Austrian pianist, who took second prize at last year’s Warsaw International Chopin Competition, will launch his Yellow-label career with a solo Chopin recital, due out in April.

“It’s an honour and privilege,” said Wunder. “To record for Deutsche Grammophon is every pianist’s dream. I hope my recordings will add to that legacy.”

Michael Lang, president of DG, said of his new signing: “Ingolf Wunder is a gifted artist, who has deservedly won acclaim for his music-making; the music – and its beauty – focuses his audience’s attention entirely on his playing.”

It’s the latest in a series of young artist signings – Wunder was born in 1985 – by the major labels, including Polish soprano Aleksandra Kurzak and American cellist Alisa Weilerstein by the Decca label, and Georgian soprano Nino Machaidze by Sony.
