SeasonPreview: Your guide to the arts in 2025

Marking its 20th anniversary, the Festival of Voices (FOV) has announced its 2025 program. Across 27 June – 6 July, acclaimed international and Australian voices will flock to the “biggest program yet”, celebrating the community that singing fosters.

Verdi’s Requiem is one of this year’s celebration highlights. UK conductor David Lawrence is “very excited to be returning” to conduct the work, which he notes has not been performed in Tasmania for more than 40 years. It will be performed with members of the TSO Chorus, FOV’s 20th Anniversary Orchestra, and soloists Sharon Prero, Katharine Tier, Michael Petruccelli and Christopher Richardson.

Another highlight is returning ensemble The Australian Voices, which offers programs in Hobart and regional Tasmania. The group will perform new Australian commissions alongside classic repertoire. It will also performing as a featured ensemble in A Choral Showcase and in the festival’s Opening Celebration on 27 June.
