Queensland Theatre’s 2024 season-opening staging of the classic psychological thriller Gaslight will tour nationally after its Brisbane debut.

Set in London in 1901, the production will be directed by Queensland Theatre’s Artistic Director Lee Lewis and stars Geraldine Hakewill and Toby Schmitz.

Patrick Hamilton’s script has been adapted by Canadian writers Patty Jamieson and Johnna Wright.

After its Brisbane season, the production tours to Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre, Canberra Theatre Centre, Perth’s Regal Theatre, Newcastle’s Civic Centre and Riverside Theatres, Parramatta. The tour ends with a season at the Roslyn Packer Theatre in Sydney.

“I was interested in tackling a play that’s stood the test of time; intrigued millions both on stage and on film, and giving it a modern, 2024 twist,” says co-producer Rodney Rigby. “Could we explore a more relevant message and yet retain the thrills and suspense of the original?”
