After a stellar Australian debut in 2021, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton is set to return to the Sydney Lyric theatre from 30 July, 2024.

Hamilton had its first Australian opening night at the Lyric in March 2021. Second-wave COVID played havoc with that run, however, leading to the cancellation of 133 performances. It was the first major production to re-open after the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, however and went on to play seasons in Melbourne, Brisbane and New Zealand.

Perth’s Jason Arrow played the title role in the premiere season, leading a cast including Martha Berhane, Callan Purcell, Akina Edmonds, Matu Ngaropo and Brent Hill.

The 2021 Sydney run received a five-star review from Limelight, with editor Jo Litson describing the production as “stunning”.

No announcement has been made regarding casting for the return production.
