Superstar tenor will return to Sydney for one further performance in August.

The potential opera event of the year has moved up a gear today as Opera Australia has announced that superstar tenor, Jonas Kaufmann, will perform a second concert on August 17 at Sydney Opera House.

The German tenor, probably the most sought after singer on the planet, will be making his Australian debut as the latest in the increasingly impressive roster of the great and the good heading down under to try their hands on our operatic stages, The concerts, announced last year, have been one of the hottest tickets around. “With a second and final concert at Sydney Opera House now on sale, I encourage anyone keen to see Kaufmann live, to hurry!” said OA Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini.

Kaufmann will perform a selection of popular arias from operas including Puccini’s Tosca, Verdi’s La Forza del Destino and Massenet’s Werther. The concerts will be conducted by Jochen Rieder and accompanied by the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra in Sydney and Orchestra Victoria in Melbourne.
