Sublime songs and soul-stirring music combine in a unique new work from songwriter and composer.

On the back of successful shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, Lior and Nigel Westlake are set to join forces for a performance of Compassion with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra next month.

Uniting the soulful power of Lior’s voice with the radiance and vivid drama of Westlake’s orchestral style, the unique song cycle explores the idea of compassion as expressed through ancient Hebrew and Arabic texts.

Poetic, beautiful and rewarding, the work draws on cultural influences from Islam and Judaism in a joyful celebration of compassion, exploring its ability to bring people together across the divides of race and fear, and to transform our relationships as human beings.

Also on the bill will be orchestral arrangements of Lior’s original songs, including old favourites Bedouin Song, Daniel and This Old Love.
