MSO announces 2014 season, cheaper adult tickets, and a new artistic adventure.

The MSO has announced a commitment to making concerts more accessible to more people in 2014. Introducing two new seating reserves for selected concerts, adult single ticket prices will start from $20 for performances in Melbourne Town Hall, and $25 in Hamer Hall.

“Making our music accessible to everyone who wants to hear it is one of our most important goals,” said the orchestra’s managing director André Gremillet. “We strongly believe that price shouldn’t be an obstacle to people experiencing the MSO.”

Performing regularly at Melbourne Recital Centre and Hamer Hall, the MSO will also be taking many of their concert programs to Geelong, Monash, and several regional venues across Victoria.

The concert season’s official opening will be celebrated with works by Borodin, Rachmaninov and Sibelius in a concert on March 28, led by MSO’s 2014 Principal Guest Conductor Diego Matheuz and featuring Korean-born pianist Joyce Yang.

“The concert will have a nice gala feeling,” said Gremillet. “We want to really let the community know the year has started.”
