For her second season as Melbourne Theatre Company’s Artistic Director Anne–Louise Sarks had a mission.
“I was really determined to bring Australian stories to audiences. I hoped and believed that the quality of the work would shine through, and that people would be drawn to that. I feel like 2023 has proven that was true,” she tells Limelight.
“It’s really exciting to build on that, to take that next step with that confidence – to be so galvanised by what’s happened this year so far.”

For its 2024 mainstage season, MTC offers 12 plays, seven of which are Australian. There are two world premieres:
