Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2023

One Equal Music has announced its 2023 season.

Founded only last year, the Brisbane-based choral ensemble is led by married Co-Directors Tomasz Holownia and Eleanor Adeney. With aims to foster the development of the local choral scene, it was created to fill a glaring gap and it is currently the sole professional choir in Brisbane offering paid work for its vocalist, who are selected from Cathedral and Parish choirs across Queensland.

On 4 March, a Launch Soiree for the ensemble’s 2023 season was hosted at Brisbane’s Thomas Dixon Centre. Opening with William Barton’s Kalkadunga Yurdu as an Acknowledgement of Country, performances of Pärt, Rachmaninov, Górecki and Purcell gave a preview of the year to come.

A candlelit concert, Darkness takes place in St Brigid’s Catholic Church on 11 March, with Victoria’s Tenebrae Responsories, Lotti’s Crucifixus and Purcell’s Hear My Prayer
