Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2023

Phoenix Central Park, arguably Sydney’s most musically and architecturally fascinating venue, has released Season X, a new batch of performances for the fourth quarter of 2023.

Beginning 5 October the venue will host a series of forward-thinking local and international performers including Mildlife, the world premiere of a new dance and music collaboration, MOUNTAIN: Clark (UK) x Melanie Lane, Omega Ensemble, They Hate Change (USA) and many more. As always, tickets to Season X remain free via ballot entry in 2023.

Phoenix Central Park’s Creative Director, Beau Neilson, says: “Season X represents the culmination of two years of uninterrupted programming. The lineup we have curated for this Season reflects our sustained commitment to presenting an engaging cross-section of arts and music from Australia and abroad.”

Season X begins with encore performances of Omega Ensemble’s critically Continuo, a concert of works by Bach, Penderecki and Gorecki, plus a new work by Caroline Shaw, Concerto for Harpsichord and Strings.

Continuo’s title is a reference to the instrument at the centre of the program – the harpsichord, and its basso continuo role in Baroque ensemble music....
