Sony Classical has announced an exclusive long term agreement with Georgian soprano Nino Machaidze.

Now 27, the young opera singer launched her international career in 2007 with appearances as Marie in Donizetti’s La Fille du Regiment at La Scala and the Rome Opera. These were followed by her debut at the Salzburg Festival where she performed alongside Rolando Villazon in Romeo et Juliette.

These appearances gave her career a meteoric rise and, since then, this superb young singer has been in great demand in all of the world’s leading opera houses. While still in her early twenties, she made debuts in rapid succession in Vienna, Bologna, Venice, Brussels, Berlin, Barcelona, Los Angeles and Munich.

Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Machaidze was accepted into the famous Accademia del Teatro alla Scala at the age of seventeen and won first prize in 2006 in the Leyla Gencer Vocal Competition. As an adult, she has fast gained renown as a leading interpreter of the great bel canto roles of Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini.
