SSO teams up with Credit Suisse to offer unique opportunities to talented youngsters.

Eight of Australia’s finest young musicians have won coveted places on this year’s prestigious Sydney Symphony Orchestra Credit Suisse Fellowship program. Chosen from among hundreds of applicants from around the country, the young performers will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in an intensive, year-long apprenticeship with the SSO.

The 2014 Fellows are Liisa Pallandi, 25, violin (NSW), Nicholas Waters, 23, violin (VIC), Carl Lee, 22, viola, (NSW), James sang-oh Yoo, 26, cello (NSW), Aurora Henrich, 20, double bass (NSW), Georgina Roberts, 22, oboe (QLD), Alexei Dupressoir, 25, clarinet (NSW) and Timothy Murray, 21, bassoon (NSW).

Guiding them through the year will be SSO Principal Viola and Fellowship Artistic Director Roger Benedict. “I can’t wait to discover the enormous potential that these amazing musicians possess,” he said. “I know they will develop so much during their time with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, finishing the year as professional musicians ready to embark upon successful musical careers, and I’m incredibly grateful to Credit Suisse for their continued support for this wonderful program.”
