The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra has announced that Norwegian maestro Eivind Aadland will be the orchestra’s new Chief Conductor and Artistic Director from 2020, taking over the role from Marko Letonja who finishes up at the end of this year.

“I am thrilled at this opportunity to deepen my relationship with the brilliant TSO,” Aadland said. “As a guest conductor I have always enjoyed making music with the excellent musicians of the orchestra. I look forward to our future collaboration, which I hope will produce performances that will excite and inspire our audience.”

The TSO’s 2019 season, which will be announced on October 4, will feature a high profile line-up of guest conductors, including Aadland, who will conduct a concert in August, Letonja – who returns as Conductor Laureate – and Principal Guest Conductor Johannes Fritzsch.
