Emilie Collyer’s play Super has won the $25,000 Drama Prize at the 2026 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, with judges praising its “gleeful premise” and sharp critique of contemporary power structures.
Published by Currency Press and staged by Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre, Super unfolds in an alt-reality world populated by characters “less Marvel and more in need of a support group”.
The judges described the work as “refreshing in its experiment with genre and form”, underpinned by “timely questions around care and feminism under capitalism”.
“Chewy and entertaining, the play’s critique of a culture that venerates power and hero narratives will resonate with many today,” the judges said in their report.
Limelight reviewed the 2025 Red Stitch production and declared Super “absurdly funny … Collyer’s writing is witty and energetic, propelling us through a 90-minute run time with a story full of creative and unpredictable twists and turns.”
