On 22 February, Donne, Women in Music will attempt to set a new world record – with a twist.

In an attempt to earn a Guinness World Record for the “Longest Acoustic Music Live-Streamed Concert”, the organisation will present music written only by female and non-binary composers and songwriters in a move towards sparking change towards gender equality in the music industry.

Called Let HER MUSIC PLAY, the YouTube livestream is set to span from 22 February, 11pm – 24 February, 1am AEDT, and invites artists from across various genres of music, including classical, jazz, pop and folk. Viewers can also support the campaign via donation.

Amongst the extensive list of performers signed on for the livestream are original Iron Maiden member Tony Moore, baritone Roderick Williams, sopranos Carolyn Sampson, Helen Lacey, Donne founder Gabriella Di Laccio and mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina, with more set to join. The performance will take place at the Sala Brasil, at London’s Embassy of Brazil.

“I’m very excited to invite you all to be a part of this music that will… make a powerful statement about gender equality...
