Perhaps still best remembered for his breakout role as hilariously degenerate drunk Withnail in 1987 cult film Withnail and I, Richard E Grant has rarely played a lead role since. Yet that wicked charm, posh voice and distinctive long face always make him light up the screen among supporting casts in everything from Downtown Abbey to Game of Thrones, Star Wars, the criminally cancelled Posh Nosh, and the Kath and Kim and Spice Girls movies.

Grant was Oscar-nominated for his supporting role in 2018 dramedy Can You Ever Forgive Me? (in which his character is reminiscent of an older Withnail still up to drunken high jinks), and wrote and directed the 2005 film Wah-Wah, which was inspired by his youth in colonial Swaziland.

For many, this prolific British actor has become like a dear old friend we enjoy seeing from time to time, so the chance to focus on him in the flesh is immensely welcome.
