In a celebration of her CD, Boccherini: Chamber works for flute, Sally Walker, flautist and Senior Lecturer in Classical Performance (Woodwind) at the Australian National University, has gathered some of our finest musicians to bring this sparkling music to a wider audience.
Performing at Wesley Uniting Church in Canberra, Walker was joined by Elizabeth Layton and Alison Rayner (violins), Stephen King (viola) and Thomas Marlin on cello. The title of this concert is derived from the fact that Mozart and Boccherini both composed music for King Friedrich Wilhelm II of Prussia.
Playing a central role in the revival and performance of Boccherini’s chamber works for flute, Walker has curated a CD and concert series showcasing Boccherini’s flute works, highlighting his talent as a composer beyond cello music.

By way of a grand entrance, the Entrada from the Flute Quintet Op. 19, No. 6 in D Major, G. 430 opened the concert. Composed in 1774, this music instantly brings happiness to the listener with its brightness and joy.
