Iconic works from over 90 major artists on loan from New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

Those who have yet to visit this superb exhibition of works from New York’s Museum of Modern Art at the Art Gallery of Western Australia in Perth now have less than two weeks to do so. Yet visit you must.

The third in an unprecedented series of exhibitions which are the result of an exclusive collaboration between MoMA and the Art Gallery of WA, Van Gogh, Dalí and Beyond: The World Reimagined examines the reinvention of the traditional genres of landscape, still life and portraiture through more than 130 works by over 90 major artists.

These paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, photographs and works in other media have all been drawn from the MoMA’s unequalled collection. The artists themselves will need no introduction. There are the eponymous Van Gogh and Dalí; but there are also the likes of Cézanne, Duchamp, Kandinsky, Klimt, Bonnard, Klee, Matisse, Picasso, Lichtenstein, Kahlo and Warhol.

The exhibition has been superbly co-curated, or “organised,” as the excellent catalogue has it, by MoMA’s Assistant Curator, Department of Drawings Samantha Freedman and AGWA’s Deputy Director/Chief Curator Gary Dufour and Associate Curator of Indigenous Objects...
