Festival of Voices: All Out A Cappella

9 July @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEST

The Tasmanian celebration of all things vocal returns with a host of performers from Australia and overseas. Traditional and contemporary works rub shoulders with cabaret and educational workshops, while headline acts include Hobart-based vocal ensemble JESSA performing contemporary classical repertoire at the Port Arthur Asylum, and vocal works setting words by Australian writers performed by AVÉ alongside polyphony by Bach and Victoria. This year’s Classical Choral Workshop concentrates on Handel, culminating in a concert featuring his Dixit Dominus, performed by the 120 singers of the Festival’s Classical Choral Workshop, and Zadok the Priest, performed by the Come Sing Handel Choir.

Get ready, Launceston – we’re going All Out A Cappella!

This high-energy concert brings together three dynamic vocal groups for a night of rhythm, harmony and pure vocal power.  Visiting from Melbourne, award-winning Harambee A Cappella joins Launceston’s own Singcognito and Gospella for a vibrant celebration of unaccompanied singing.

From soulful grooves and gospel-inspired favourites to pop hits and playful classics, this all-voice showcase proves just how powerful the human voice can be.  Expect tight harmonies, infectious energy and plenty of musical surprises as these three choirs share the stage in a joyful exploration of sound.
