Duo Aki: Autumn Rhythms
27 September @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm AEST

Blue Poles and Duo Aki are thrilled to present Autumn Rhythms, an exciting afternoon of improvisation, new music and cross-cultural collaboration.
Duo Aki (ジュオ秋), comprised of Eden Annesley (violin/loop pedal) and Lola Schuele (saxophone/shakuhachi), is an ensemble working in the nexus of Australian and Japanese classical and contemporary music. Eden and Lola are passionate about promoting accessibility to musical engagement and shifting the mould of Australian classical music, with a particular focus on underrepresented Australian female composers.
Blue Poles brings together Hamish Cassidy (clarinets), Isaac Reed (saxophones), and Julia Zhu (piano) for explorations in new and experimental music. Blending original composition, open-form notation, and free improvisation, 2026 has seen the trio focus their practice towards found objects and multi-media collaborations, as well as hosting public improvisation workshops accessible to musos and non-musos alike.
