Canberra Choral Society: Carmina Burana
4 July @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm AEST

The Canberra Choral Society (CCS) and National Capital Orchestra (NCO) are thrilled to be uniting again to present ‘Carmina Burana’, a concert that brings to life the power, passion, and drama of two iconic choral masterpieces: Carl Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’ and Francis Poulenc’s ‘Gloria’.
Featuring the electrifying “O Fortuna”, Carmina Burana remains one of the most thrilling and recognisable choral works ever written. With its driving rhythms, powerful choruses, soaring melodies, and dramatic storytelling, this extraordinary work continues to captivate audiences around the world.
In contrast, Poulenc’s radiant and uplifting ‘Gloria’ transports the listener through moments of excitement, joy and delight to quiet introspection and emotional beauty.
This unforgettable musical event is directed by distinguished conductor and NCO Artistic Director, Louis Sharpe, with outstanding soloists Rachel Mink (soprano), Dan Walker (tenor), and Sitiveni Talei (baritone), and substantial choral and orchestral forces from the Canberra community.
