Australian National Academy of Music: Homecomings
29 May @ 7:00 pm - 8:50 pm AEST

Known for their deep commitment to new Australian music, Arcadia Winds have spent the past decade touring nationally and internationally, working with composers including Elliott Gyger, Natalie Williams, Lachlan Skipworth and Elizabeth Younan. Now celebrating their 13th year, they reunite with ANAM musicians in a program that looks both back and forward, connecting classical form with new ideas.
This concert features Valerie Coleman’s Tzigane, inspired by the fiery energy of Romani music, and Franz Krommer’s Partita in B-flat Major, op. 78, a Classical-era work showcasing interplay among the winds. The program also includes Mark Holdsworth’s Hellfire, marked by rhythmic drive and harmonic tension, and the world premiere of Lachlan Skipworth’s Sextet for Piano and Winds — written as a contemporary counterpart to Poulenc’s Sextour.
Valerie COLEMAN Tzigane
Franz KROMMER Partita in B-flat Major, op. 78
Lachlan SKIPWORTH Sextet (new work) (world premiere)
