Jodie O’Regan: Hope Song Cycle
2 October @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEST

World premiere of a new song cycle by South Australian composer Jodie O’Regan, composed for and presented by leading Australian mezzo-soprano Sally-Anne Russell. At UKARIA Cultural Centre, Sally-Anne will give the first complete performance of Hope Song Cycle, written especially for her voice and setting poetry by Emily Dickinson, Hone Tūwhare, Sara Teasdale, Christina Rossetti and Frances Frost. For this one-night performance, Jodie has created a special ensemble arrangement featuring soprano Clara Cutri, flautist Linda Pirie, cellist Joseph Freer and harpist Suneetha Carter. Jodie and Sally-Anne will also introduce the work and share its story. Sally-Anne first took Jodie’s setting of Hope Is the Thing with Feathers to concert stages around Australia, including the Sydney Opera House, before carrying it through Europe to Paris, Venice and beyond. Now she brings Hope home to South Australia for the premiere of the complete cycle at UKARIA.
