Join the Catalyst Jazz Orchestra for an evening of jazz featuring acclaimed pianist, composer and educator Jeff Usher (QLD).

The 18-piece orchestra, directed by Tom Salleo, will be joined by Jeff in a program of soulful standards, blues-inflected repertoire and hard-swinging originals. A pianist of formidable touch and deep musicality, Jeff brings decades of experience across jazz and blues, alongside a distinctive voice shaped by a lifetime immersed in music.

Blind since birth, Jeff follows in the lineage of great blind pianists such as Ray Charles and George Shearing. His career has spanned festivals across Australia and internationally, numerous recordings, and a long-standing role as lecturer and specialist blues piano educator at the Queensland Conservatorium.

This collaboration brings Jeff’s rich musical perspective together with the next generation of big band musicians in a night of dynamic ensemble work and expressive improvisation.
