Welcome to the Australian Art Music playlist! A monthly playlist of classical, jazz, experimental and electronic music focused on contemporary Australian composers, musicians and sound artists.

What exactly defines “Speed” in music? There are some immediate things which come to mind, such as tempo, but what about rhythm, impetus and constancy of sound? How is interpret or experience speed in music is dependant of multiple of these factors, and also the context in which you hear it.

For this month, I wanted to curate a listening experience which accelerates from slower works to faster ones. I’m happy with where I’ve ended up, but I’m curious, would you have changes order? Send me a comment here on social media, I’m keen to hear from you.
