Sonant Traces is a new site-responsive work for choir and low strings ensemble, commissioned by Sydney’s Inner West Council for EDGE White Bay, which is part of EDGE Inner West 2024, and presented in partnership with the Biennale of Sydney. One of six site-specific performance works commissioned especially for White Bay Power Station, it will be performed on 6 and 7 April by Inner West Voices, under the direction of Huw Belling and Emily Irvine, together with an ensemble of Sydney-based cellists and double bassists.

Throughout the process, we have felt fortunate to have had the opportunity to research and learn about White Bay Power Station’s history and its significance as a place of connection for many. The striking industrial exterior stands out from afar, whether you’re cycling across Anzac Bridge or spotting its two lanky smokestacks from the end of Glebe Point Road.
