Our annual Recording of the Year comes a few months earlier this year, with Limelight’s critics scrutinising 50 outstanding discs released at any time over the past 12 months.

Limelight Recording of the Year 2022

It was an especially closely fought fight this time around, but we are delighted to announce that the overall winner is the Philadelphia Orchestra’s sumptuously recorded disc featuring the First and Third Symphonies by the pioneering 20th-century African-American composer Florence Price. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin was at the helm for detailed and absorbing accounts of what are essentially rediscovered gems. The recording, on Deutsche Grammophon (DG 4862029), is also honoured as our Orchestral Recording of the Year.
