Cameron Mitchell had a big year in 2022. Topping it off were nominations for Best Direction and Best Choreography in a Musical at the Sydney Theatre Awards for his production of Nice Work If You Can Get It at the Hayes Theatre Co.

Whether he has won will be revealed on 23 January.

As well as directing and choreographing Nice Work, he directed To Barbra, With Love for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra – which is now being remounted by Live Nation in Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra – and directed and choreographed a concert staging of Singin’ in the Rain at QPAC.

He also spent 10 weeks in Perth when he directed and choreographed the third year students at WAAPA in The Pajama Game.

2023 has got off to an equally busy start. As well as reviving To Barbra, With Love, Mitchell is choreographing the musical Urinetown at the Hayes Theatre Co.
