West Australian Symphony Orchestra: Eroica
Composed in 1804, Beethoven’s Eroica was originally titled Bonaparte, but when Napoleon crowned himself Emperor, the composer erased the name from his score in disgust. Find out how this extraordinary work changed the face of the classical symphony forever when Maestro Asher Fisch presents Discover: Beethoven on 4 July. The concert program also includes Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and, on 5 and 6 July only, acclaimed Italian violinist Francesca Dego makes her WASO debut, playing Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto on her rare 1697 Francesco Ruggeri violin.
