Maybe it’s not as exciting as it once was. Maybe, playing scales is growing stale. Either way, Sally Greenaway wants pianists to fall in love with their instrument all over again.

The Canberra-based composer is launching a book of piano sheet music, Piano Music for Discoverers, which collects 12 of her original works catering to a range of pianistic abilities.

Making works written by female Australian composers more accessible, books like these are vital in integrating their writers into the canon of piano repertoire for students.

The book will be launched on 22 October at Greenaway Studio, Canberra, in an event open to the public.

Ahead of its release, Greenaway talks to Limelight about the inspiration behind the collection, her own journey as a pianist, and what the works mean to her.
