Sydney Dance Company (SDC) and The Balnaves Foundation have announced choreographer Jenni Large as the 2026 Balnaves Foundation Artist in Residence.

Over a 12-month period, Large will work across each department at SDC to gain experience across its artistic, production and administrative fields while developing her own practice alongside it.

Large is a Melbourne-born, Launceston-based contemporary dancer, teacher, choreographer and director whose interests lie in durational performance, the intersection between dance and visual art, and the body in relationship to the ‘other’.

She is an alum of SDC’s 2022 New Breed, was an ensemble member of Dancenorth across 2015–2020 and is currently a creative associate at Tasdance.  She has performed with Australasian Dance Collective, Legs on the Wall, GUTS Dance, Leigh Warren & Dancers and South Australian Opera, among others.

This year, she will premiere the durational performance installation exhibit Body Shells and a brand-new work for Lucy Guerin Inc’s PIECES program.
