As announced in November, the Australian Chamber Orchestra will take up a prestigious three year residency at London’s Barbican Centre at the end of this year. As one of three International Associate Ensembles at Milton Court Concert Hall, the ACO will present three concerts that will capture the high-octane performances for which it is renowned.

To launch its residency, the ensemble will perform three works that represent the peak of Mozart’s genius – his symphonies 39, 40 and 41. A programme that it toured to acclaim in 2015 as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, Mozart’s Last Three Symphonies is sure to demonstrate the ACO’s mastery of the style.

The ACO will also give the UK premiere of Mountain, a multimedia project exploring the grandeur of the wilderness and high places and incorporating the music of Pärt, Vivaldi, Beethoven and Richard Tognetti.

In its final concert at the Barbican, the ACO joins forces with Australian soprano Nicole Car as well as musicians from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Car will perform Beethoven’s Ah! perfido and No, non turbati in a programme that also includes Bach, Sufjan Stevens and Bartók.
