Applications have opened for the 2022 ABC Classic and ABC Jazz Composer Commissioning Fund. The fund will support the creation of up to 15 new works or album collections of works from both classical and jazz disciplines, prioritising opportunities for women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, gender diverse people, people with a disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and other underrepresented voices.

Applicants can request up to $6000 for their project and will receive an ABC studio recording of the work, airplay on either ABC Classic or ABC Jazz, and a commercial digital release of the work via ABC Music.

The fund was inaugurated in 2021, following the success of ABC’s 2020 Fresh Start Fund, which provided critical assistance to artists during the turbulence of the pandemic. As part of the biggest commissioning project in the history of the ABC, 17 new classical works were commissioned for recording and broadcast, from such prominent composers as William Barton, Harry Sdraulig and Anne Cawrse.
