Máximo Diego Pujol’s tango trio to make its Australian debut at 2014 Adelaide International Guitar Festival.

Slava Grigoryan, Artistic Director of the Adelaide International Guitar Festival, has announced the Australian debut of Buenos Aires-based composer-performer Máximo Diego Pujol’s tango trio at this year’s festival.

Pujol, the son of a professional tango guitarist-cum-dentist, played his first concert aged nine and started composition very soon after. One of Argentina’s most respected musicians, Pujol’s guitar works have been widely recorded but this we be the first time Australian audiences will have had the chance to hear the trio play live.

Pujol’s appearance, which is coupled with the debut of acclaimed French guitarist Judicaël Perroy forms one of three new shows joining the 2014 line-up. The other two events are Adelaide classical guitarist Andrey Lebedev in a double-bill with the Sydney Guitar Trio and an impressive gala event which will see the Australian String Quartet joined on stage by legendary Spanish guitarist Pepe Romero, Brisbane’s Aurora Guitar Quartet and Grigoryan himself.
