Following last month’s announcement that Samantha Jade will star in the Australian production of Pretty Woman: The Musical, it has now been revealed that Ben Hall will play opposite her.

Based on the 1990 film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, the much-loved romcom tells the fairytale story of what happens when Hollywood escort Vivan Ward meets wealthy corporate raider Edward Lewis.

Not surprisingly, both Jade and Hall admit to feeling daunted at taking on roles made famous by such big-name actors, but excited too.

The musical, which has music by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance with a book by Garry Marshall (who directed the movie) and screenwriter JF Lawton, was directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell. It opened on Broadway in 2018 where it ran for a year and has since been produced around the world including in London’s West End. The Australian production, produced by Suzanne Jones for JONES Theatrical Group, opens at QPAC in Brisbane in October.
