Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez will return to Australian in November, almost two years to the day since he made his Australian debut in concerts Limelight reviewer Patricia Maunder described as “unforgettable display of technique, artistry and talent, combined with a warm personality that sealed his conquest of the audience.”

“His phrasing is elegant and evocative, and diction excellent. Dynamics are both well considered and exquisitely controlled. He has seamless legato, and the ability to sustain notes with apparent ease, whether firing off climactic (but never bombastic) High Cs or softly caressing a note so that it seems to float in the air.”

Flórez’s sold-out Sydney Opera House performance earned an astonishing 10 encores.

Florez’s return tour will begin at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on Saturday 29 November. He sings at the Sydney Opera House on Monday 1 December before performing in Adelaide for the first time, at Her Majesty’s Theatre, on Wednesday 3 December.

Accompanied by the American pianist Vincenzo Scalera, Florez’s recitals will include selections by Rossini, Donizetti, Gounod, Verdi and more.
