Lissa Twomey is to leave The Australian Ballet after just 18 months in the role of Executive Director.

Appointed in October 2022, she took up the position in December that year following the departure of Libby Christie, who spent 10 years as the company’s Executive Director.

With more than 25 years’ experience in senior artistic and business roles in the cultural sector, Twomey joined TAB after working as Executive Director for Bangarra Dance Theatre from March 2020.

The Chair of The Australian Ballet, Dr Richard Dammery, said that Twomey “is currently working with us to ensure a smooth transition.”

“With [Artistic Director] David Hallberg, Lissa has navigated numerous challenges in her role, including the delivery of last year’s 60th-anniversary program and preparing for our temporary move from our performance home at the State Theatre [at Arts Centre Melbourne] to the Regent Theatre,” said Dammery.
