Principal Artist Callum Linnane will leave The Australian Ballet after more than a decade to join Hamburg Ballet as a principal artist from the 2026–27 season, the company has announced.

The move marks a significant international step for the Ballarat-born dancer, who has risen through the ranks to become one of the Australian company’s most prominent male artists, noted for his dramatic intensity and strong classical technique.

Linnane joined The Australian Ballet in 2015 after graduating dux of The Australian Ballet School in 2014. He was promoted to principal artist in 2022 on the opening night of Anna Karenina in Melbourne, consolidating a steady ascent that included winning the Telstra Ballet Dancer Award in 2016.
